THE WORLD IN 2012

Here we are, we have arrived at 2012 – the year which millions of people around the globe believe will bring the end. The 21st December 2012, is the date that many anticipate to be “the end of times,” the end of the world as we know it. The big question on everyone’s lips is, “IS IT TRUE?”

OK, so let’s take a closer look at this calendar year, 2012. It comprises of two 2s, one of which is emphasised with a zero and one 1. When we add these numbers together – 2+0+1+2, we get 5. The number 5 along with the numbers 1 and 9, is considered as necessary in one’s profile. Why? Because it is the number, among other things, that brings change. It is through change that we are given opportunity, through change everything grows, without change growth would not occur and thus stagnation and death would be the outcome. When the 5 is active as an experience, as it is in the year 2012, the mantra most appropriate would be, EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED! While we are happy to make the changes we want in our lives, we are not happy to accept the changes we do not like and that Life sometimes delivers to our front door. None-the-less, we must accept these changes, like them or not. No amount of denial or resistance is sufficient to undo a change which has occurred, I’m sure you’ll agree.

Numbers reflect life and the world we live in – what has been, what is and what can be. In themselves, numbers do not make things happen, but they reflect the happenings like a mirror. We have entered the millennium of peace – in a state of anything but peace. The year 2012 is one where heads of government will need to show restraint from retaliating against other nations. The impulse to do something regrettable in response to a stupid act runs through 2012. The way is to come together to resolve issues and problems with a beneficial outcome for all concerned. The two 2’s and the zero which follows the first 2 in this equation, denotes an urgency in relationships and associations – across the board – in your personal life and in the life of the broader community. How well we relate and negotiate economic issues, refugee issues, work issues, family issues – in fact how well we relate and negotiate with another on any issue will determine the degree of peace and violence in our homes and in our world.

2012 invites us to change that in our lives which no longer works, or that we deem as stopping us from growing into more conscious human beings. The temptation to blame others will be strong – but giving into this will only distance the peace, stability and success we so crave. Economically, things will be even more unstable than they currently are, but we must work with what is available to us, we must be more resourceful, show more initiative, as the 5 suggests. We must be more flexible when unwanted change happens, even if it means going with the punches. Just as importantly, we must reclaim a sense of adventure, a love of the different, be a pioneer in new ways and new methods of advancement in all areas, especially concerning the environment. The changes we implement regarding energy must be clean and life sustaining – nuclear is not the way, and the Japan catastrophe in 2011 should be enough to convince the most hardened nuclear advocate. Opportunities will abound, even if the dust has to settle before we can see them. Step into 2012 with a sense of adventure, a zest for life and ready for everything Life brings you!

Getting back to the beginning and the question on everyone’s lips, IS IT TRUE - will the world end on the 21st December 2012?
